Visiting Nightline

The Nightline flat is open every night of the University of York term, from 8pm until 8am.

If you choose to visit us in person, we'll offer the same exact service as we do on the phone, over instant messenger or via email, though visiting our flat has advantages. Detailed below is what you can expect from our drop-in service, and where you can find us.

The Lounge

The lounge is a comfortable environment, where you can sit, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some biscuits and talk with our volunteers.

As with all elements of our service, whatever you say is strictly confidential and the volunteers will strive to be non-judgemental, non-assumptive and non-directive. You don't even need to have a problem to drop in - it's fine if you just want to call in for a chat!

Info & Supplies

We have a wide range of information to hand to provide to callers who drop in. Just let us know what you’re after and we can sort it for you. You can also pick up a range of sexual health supplies free of charge, including condoms, pregnancy tests, and chlamydia tests, again with the strictest confidence in a judgement-free environment. We also have personal safety alarms and Anti Drink Spike devices.

Where To Find Us

Our flat is based in the ground floor of Grimston House, on Heslington West. It’s just around the corner from Nisa and the Information Centre, down the hill. From there, cut across the grass to the door to find our flat. The room number is V/X/001. An in-depth walking tour to the flat is available on our Video page.

If you struggle to find our flat, you can find us on Google Maps, or use the map below:

If you urgently want to speak to someone and we are currently taking a call, consider contacting the Samaritans, or dropping in at York Haven.
