Phoning Nightline

You can call us on 01904 323735 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8pm to 2am. 

You can use 3735 to call us free from an internal University of York campus phone. 

If you are calling from off-campus, but you are within York, the call will cost the standard amount of a local call. If you are calling from within York, we can call you back if you wish, to save you money. However, unfortunately we cannot call back mobile phones, or numbers outside the York area.

To ensure you get the best and most consistent level of service possible calls are usually taken by two volunteers.

People get in touch with Nightline for a variety of reasons…. 

Problem 

Want to talk something over? Nothing you say will be recorded and we won’t ever ask your name. York Nightline is here to listen in complete confidence. 

Chat 

You don’t need to have a problem to get in touch. If you just fancy a chat while walking home, or if you’re bored while stuck on campus, that’s fine too. 
 

 

Silent

Just want to know that someone’s there? You don’t have to say a word, we’ll stay on the line with you for as long as you need.

Looking for information? Nightline can signpost you in the direction of a wide array of information and services: from other helplines, info about contraception and mental health, to takeaways and taxis – Nightline is your Information Hub.
