Getting In Touch

By Phone

Call us on 01904 433735, or you can use 3735 to call us free from an internal campus phone.

If you are calling from off-campus, but you are within York, the call will cost the standard amount of a local call. If you are calling from within York, we can call you back if you wish, to save you money. However, unfortunately we cannot call back mobile phones, or numbers outside the York area.

By Email

Drop us a line at nightmail@yusu.org and we will reply to your email within 48 hours.

This service is, again, completely confidential as with all of the other aspects of our service. However, if you are worried about confidentiality, you can set up an anonymous email account with any free email provider, such as Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo!. The Free Email Providers Guide may be helpful in this respect.

You can email us to get something off your chest, to request information or even to have condoms, pregnancy tests, or chlamydia tests sent through internal mail to you.

Emails will be answered by two Nightline volunteers, to ensure you get the best and most consistent level of service possible.

Drop in

The Nightline flat is open every night of the University of York term, from 8pm until 8am.

We offer the same service in person as we do on the phone or via email, though visiting our flat has advantages. It is a comfortable environment, where you can sit, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some biscuits and have a chat with our volunteers. You can also browse through the enormous amount of information we have on offer. You can also pick up condoms, pregnancy tests, and chlamydia tests free of charge.

If you visit our flat, our volunteers will offer you the same levels of confidentiality, non-direction and non-judgement as you would get on the telephone.

There are always two Nightliners taking calls (when possible, one male and one female).

The flat can be found in Langwith G-Block, at the Wentworth end of what used to be the Goodricke-Wentworth bridge, near Biology.

If you're not sure how to reach the flat, go to the former Goodricke Porters' Lodge. From here, go outside through the double doors towards the computer room (the doors nearest the YSTV television). Continue along the path until you almost reach what used to be the Goodricke-Vanbrugh Bridge; at this point turn left and follow the path which goes alongside the former Goodricke A-Block (heading towards the Roger Kirk Centre). Soon you will see a bridge to your right. This is the Goodricke-Wentworth bridge, and the flat should be visible as you cross the bridge towards Langwith G-Block (formerly Goodricke D-Block).
